GTA IV trailer out now!

After a long wait and some very interesting advertisement, the GTA IV trailer is now out.

So what can we see?

First of all it does feel a little bit disappointing. The actual game images are only about fifty seconds of it and mostly consist of random flybys. Graphically it does look impressive, however, it’s a trailer, I’m basing nothing on that. It will be set in Liberty City [although it could always involve travelling to different locations], GTA’s equivalent of New York and feature a Russian protagonist.

Life is complicated. I killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here things will be different.

Human trafficking? Illegeal immigrants? Very strange choice, but I am glad that they are moving away from the whole ‘Gangsta’, ‘Homie’ stuff….

There are some great adverts on the buildings though. Keep an eye out for the ‘Getalife’ building or the adverts for ‘Top Hooker’ and ‘Sprunk’.

Overall it does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a teaser trailer. We know of the location, the main character and that it is set at this point in time.

We will see, we will see….

Edit: Just seen that Becky has also posted her views. Have a look over at Sprites and Bites. :)

EDIT 2: A quite interesting read over at 1Up about the first impressions of the demo.

I’d quite like to go back to Liberty city, I haven’t played it since GTA 3 and it was the best game (bar vice citys soundtrack) in the GTA series. I really hated GTA SA because of all the roleplaying elements. I just got really annoyed at having to eat all the time.

I think GTA San Andreas was good as it captured the time and I liked the cities. They all had something unique about them, especially the Badlands and the Vegas desert, but I couldn’t help and feel that it was too big and there just wasn’t as much detail as there was in previous games. I mean some streets were very similar to each other, whereas in GTA Vice City they had a lot more detail.

To this day I can’t watch the CSI Miami intro without thinking of GTA Vice City. Odd, isn’t it?

As for Liberty City, I don’t know. I never really played GTA III, I just got too hooked on Vice City when the Double pack came out.

Why did you think it was the best game?

You know what Cat, I think there are two more surprises up their sleeves… ;-)

I’ve never played a GTA game myself although my brother has played GTA 1 and 2. Should get GTA III to see what the fuss is about… coz I doubt my PC would be able to run Vice City and San Andreas! :P

You most definitely should. I am tempted to replay GTA III now, well to play it alltogether as I never played past the first few missions.

Maybe you should get yourself a PlayStation2? I have no idea what they cost over there, but they have massively dropped in price here.

Funny you should mention it as we’re starting a Gaming cafe soon and we’re thinking of buying two PS2′s [yes the prices have come down too!]. I had been forgetting to ask you this for a few days, but thanks for reminding. Here’s the question – Can you recommend any games for the PS2 ? [apart from the wrestling ones... I have them already and run them on my PC! :D]

    Thanks! :)

Haha, recommend PS2 games…. Well, it depends as to what you like.

Games that I rank as good are:
    The GTA series
    Resident Evil
    The Splinter Cell series
    Deus Ex

Those are just based on the few Xbox games that I haven’t sold yet and that also came out on the PS2. I’ve never owned a PS2.

Again though, what games do you like?

GTA III was the best. San Andreas wasn’t my cup of tea. Vice City was OK but I like stuff which is best in the current time.

Intro was really bad IMO. I know we all feel disappointed in trailers but this was just rubbish. In the Halo 3 trailer we learnt about a new technique. Man thats going to be good :D

It definitely did succeed in all the hype it was creating! Look on any forum or gaming site, everyone is talking about it!

Don’t look over on the site I write for then. Think everyone was pretty pissed lol.

You can mention the site, you know. :P

Well, people are talking about a game they know NOTHING about. That is the best Rockstar could’ve hoped for.
