I really enjoyed the first maybe 15 episodes of Death Note, but then it just seemed to get rather samey with not much happening in every episode. I decided to take a break, so when I went back to watching it, I would have several episodes to watch back to back and there had to be a good one amongst them.
Several people told me about episode 24 and that it was very good, so I started downloading them. It took me almost 2 weeks to get hold of them all, especially as stage6 has now reached beta stage and is very unreliable at times and the search seems to work even less than before.
I finally started watching episode 19-25 yesterday and oh dear, it is getting incredibly good. A warning to everyone who hasn’t seen the episodes up to 26 yet, do not continue reading. You have been warned!
Light’s plan has finally been revealed with the different death Notes and his longterm plans, especially regarding the Shinigami. However, I feel that it would’ve never gotten this far if it wasn’t for Higuchi being so ignorant and wanting to kill Misa, so Rem took matters in her own hand.
Episode 25 was very sad with L dying and it was set in a completely different tone to the others with obvious bible references and the bells. Why did Rem kill Watari though? And why did she not also kill Light? She knows that Light is up to no good and now she has absolutely no chance of saving Misa from him.
Now it’s just a question on how it’s all going to continue. I have to say I have been a bit disappointed with L in the episodes leading up to his death. He let some very obvious things slide, such as Light killing Higuchi while he was siting next to L in the helicopter and generally allowing Light to take it so far. There is a bit in me that doubts that L is really dead and has instead maybe made a pact with Rem to stage the deaths. As now it is revealed that Light is Kira and therefore there could be a way to catch him and with only ten episodes to go it is a bit late to introduce another main character.
The next episodes sure are going to be interesting. The time has moved on, people seem to be very happy with the law that Kira imposes and there are two new characters that were being introduced at the end of the last episodes.
Episode 27 is titled “Abduction” and it will be interesting to see just who will get abducted. Only six days left to find out.
