CSS changes

Just to let everyone know my blog will look a bit different and at times possibly broken over the next few days, as I’m making some changes to the CSS and have managed to break it a little.

Should be back to normal soon, I hope!

Cat

And to make it look like I’m actually doing something, these are the changes I’ve done:

  • Changed the sidebar and placed a ‘Welcome’ box at the top.
  • Removed the header from the ‘Search’ box.
  • Changed the size of the blog name in the header. [This was the easiest bit!]
  • Changed the header height messing things up a little along the way.

As mentioned in the comments this is on hold as Diurnal is far too complicated for me. Ah well.

    I already like that welcome message Cat! ^-^ Will be eager to see what you’re unveiling.

    Btw, I finally gave in and shifted. I will treat the CSS upgrade as a sunk cost, unless I decide to move back (which might/might not happen).

    Well, it’s not going to be that grand I don’t think. I thought I was done, even posted in the CSS thread when the time changed and with it the theme [Diurnal changes colours/header 5x/day].

    In the long term, colour changes, changing the colour of things is simpler! Need to find a simple way to see the changes on on different times of day though.

    Yeah, seen your post. I’ll stop by at some time. :)

    Are you planning a new header image?

    @Ruhi: Can’t you just transfer the CSS upgrade to somebody? Maybe some friend of yours from the States wants a CSS upgrade and he can pay you and you can transfer it in his/her name. Wasting $15 like that is not cool is it?

    @Cat: What exactly are you trying to do with the header? The links to the pages below the header are fine now btw. How about putting an empty paragraph tag after “Thanks for stopping by :)” in the Welcome box. I believe that’ll give you some space between the last line and the end of the box.

    Wow…was going to ask what happened to your header, but the above post does explain lol. I agree with Ish. Put a space between the last line and the end of hte box. That way it looks a bit more tidier (sp?).

    Yeah, I’m afraid I’m not going to reveal anything just yet. ;)

    The cats have been running riot all day and I’ve not had the peace and quiet to tackle it all yet. :)

    Lol. What are the cats up to?

    Cat: Try changing the clock in your computer. I think that CSS gets the current time from your computer. So, you should be able to see how it looks like in all times of the day ;)

    @Ish

    Do you know how I can transfer it? I wouldn’t mind tranfering it to you, really. :)

  10. Posted January 7, 2008 at 7:28 am | Permalink

    @Ruhi: Well, I don’t really know how you can do it. Maybe you could try contacting support and asking them to transfer it since you’ve used it only for a couple of days. Maybe they’ll do it. And don’t transfer it to me lol, I’m not gonna be able to pay you back ever. :P

  11. Posted January 7, 2008 at 7:37 am | Permalink

    You don’t need to pay me idiot. :P

    Ruhi, I’m lookign for an easy way. ;)

    Ish, I’ll point you to the last paragraph on my Comment Policy. ;)

    @Cat: Ouch. I’m sorry. I meant that I don’t live on anybody’s err..favours is what they call it in English I believe.

    Don’t worry, I wouldn’t delete it, just pointing out it’s my blog and I couldn’t read it!

    @Ish

    The support is closed till 01/14…such an amazing vacation for these people, huh?! I’ll drop mark a note as soon as support opens. And don’t worry, you won’t die because of this favor ;)

    @Cat

    It is an easy way!! :) Just change the clock of your computer to see the theme change colors! I think it should work.

    YEah, I’ve stopped now. I’ve realised Diurnal is far, far too complicated for my non existent CSS skills, plus I don’t really have the time/energy at the moment.

    What I was planning to have is get rid of the header, ie make it half it’s height and keep it white across all changes, and change the overall colouring of the times, make it less pastel and more stronger colours.

    But, there’s too many things that wouldn’t work any more, such as the tabbed page navigation.

    now the site looks good..
    i like the text colour

  19. Posted January 8, 2008 at 5:47 am | Permalink

    Well, it’s the same as before!

    My theme changes 5x a day, depending on the time. This is sunrise.

  20. Posted January 8, 2008 at 7:29 am | Permalink

    @Ruhi: On holiday till the 14th? That’s well erm okay..it’s their wish

    @Cat: I think you should let it be the way it is. If you want you can select different headers..like random pictures you know. I think that will be an option there somewhere.

  21. Posted January 8, 2008 at 7:35 am | Permalink

    LOL, you realise saying different header is so much more complicated than it sounds, right?

    5x theme changes:

    5x Blog name colour changes
    several moving moon/sun things
    page navigation tabs
    and more…

    ;)

    Changing CSS now seems like a baby game to me! I was almost tempted to come back to WP.com today :P But yes, I wouldn’t even dare to do anything wit Diurnal. It’s a lot of work. You would be better off just using something else.

  23. Posted January 8, 2008 at 10:58 am | Permalink

    Thing is I love Diurnal purely for changing. I mean I can’t think of any other wp.com or even others that do!

    One day, one day… :)
