Ashish, you should give it another try, you never really gave it a chance.

Great news, Juan. I can only recommend Twitter and it's finally getting many good mainstream headlines.

DinnyHoon: Myspace, the source of all evil! The amount of crap bulletins on there.. Goog luck trying to convert people, it's a LOT of work. And I agree on Twitter opening up the internet.

JeannieGrrl: Thanks. :)

And yeah, I know what you mean about it being some kind of social contact, there's always someone on Twitter doing something. Hell, I find myself automatically checking My gmail convo window to see if everything is ok when it didn't flash for like 20 mins!

And you're right, there are some great people on there, mainly people that I've only met through other people on Twitter. And some where I realised just how small the world is and I've known them from some other place or that a RL friend knows them!

It's interesting seeing what everyone is up to, hell, even what they're having for dinner!

Lovely post! I live on Twitter because I do need the social contact and the instant gratification but as a home mom with a bunch of little blasters (girls 15 & 12 and a boy - 2) I'm on the go too much for a chat room and on IM - most of my friends are working days. I'm often sick so no going for coffee and chats, even with the kids in tow. Twitter has been a lifesaver for me. I've also gotten to "meet" some great folks, including you :)

Another great thing for me - I'm a life voyeur you could say. I really truly enjoy seeing snippets of lives different than my own.
Now and again I catch tweets from nightclub bathrooms, I can't go clubbing now but those little glimpses, they give me back something that I haven't tasted in years if only in a small burst of sweet nostalgia. The people who post photos or rant about their work situations, the traffic jams, the busy Manhattan streets at noon - it fulfils something in me that I can never have on my own.

I guess I live vicariously through my Twitter contacts in a way. Its safe, friendly and incredibly enriching plus it fills the little gaps in my day when I really do need just a little "getaway" and a blissful tub full of Calgon is not an option.

"If you are using Twitter, why are you using it?"

I don't know really. None of my 'IRL' mates use it, and I have a total of 4 followers. It's good fun though, and I'm currently trying to convert my friends from Myspace bulletins (lol) to the art of tweeting.

Plus, I get to find blogs, Qik feeds etc. when people tweet them. It opens the Internet up quite a bit.
