Pisa!

Ever since my trip to Venice earlier this year I have been wanting to go back, but can’t justify it this year with the expensive summer months and the single person supplement. Over the last couple of days I have been looking at other places. There’s been Budapest, Greece, Gibraltar and Prague amongst others, but none of them really wowed me or were affordable until I came across Pisa via Florence.

Located in the Tuscany region of Italy it is close to the sea, close to Florence and just generally set in a beautiful area. I have just booked my trip!

I am going to Pisa from September 2nd until September 7th and will be staying in a hotel that looks directly at the leaning tower. Whilst there I am planning several daytrips, including:

  • Florence
  • Lucca
  • Viareggio
  • Parco Regionale Migliarino

I can’t believe I’m going to Pisa!

Do you think playing the Assassins Creed games has altered your view of the Tuscany area?

Funny you mention it – when I was in Venice I found myself recognising places from Assassin’s Creed 2, despite having been to Venice. It’s obviously a smaller map, but the major landmarks are there, as well as the different look and feel of the different areas.

I look forward to comparing it to Tuscany which I have never been to before.

Seems like Italy is the “go to” place this year. You’ll have a great time!

We were there in May. Friends were there just after we were. Other friends are planning to be there in October. I want to go again. :)

Oh fantastic! Where did you stay? What did you do?

We had a few short days and did a lot of driving. First Lake Como, then up through the Dolomites and down to Venice, where we were for two days. It was a part of my daughter’s birthday present. We returned home exhausted but happy. :) Eventually photos will be up on WYSIWYG and her birthday blog, but right now there are some photos from Hamburg up on Random Acts if you want to see.

That sounds like an amazing trip. I’ve yet to go to Lake Como and the Dolomites and really would like to go back to Venice sooner rather than later. :)

Which one is Random Acts, I don’t think I know that link?

Seems I’m in moderation after posting a link in my earlier comment. :)

Yes, it was and I did see it, but only just remembered it. :)

Those photos look great, I love the one with the boat and the bit on top looking like it’s folded!
