Google Reader is shutting down. It has been my daily routine since 2008 and I am genuinely sad about losing it. There are a bunch of petitions around, but why would Google bother to listen.
In the meantime I’ve been recommended these links and will need to check them out soon:
Hopefully I’ll be able to find a home for my 316 subscriptions.

Today I think I read more about RSS than I have in the 5-6 years I amassed feed after feed. Spending a good few hours weeding all the dead ones out of the garden before replanting. Haven’t decided where or with what…
I have yet to look at all the alternatives. I’m disappointed in Google and, as always, afraid of change!
The maddening thing is that it looks like Google has also killed support for RSS in general. (See the Update on my latest post on WYSIWYG.) I’m not saying that web technologies shouldn’t change and develop, but why do they have destroy the entire ecosystem that grew up around RSS to do it?
I don’t know. It makes me unsure about their products – how do I know they won’t kill other things next?
