The London Symphony Orchestra at The Hexagon [@londonsymphony & @TheHexagon]

Tonight I went to see a concert by the London Symphony Orchestra in the Hexagon in Reading which marks the first time I’ve been inside the Hexagon, despite having lived in Reading for over ten years. I’ve realised over the past year that I quite enjoy seeing classical concerts, such as the Oxford Philomusica and a [...]

In prison

Yesterday I went to prison or rather a former prison. I was in the Palazzo delle Prigioni in Venice to see a concert. It included opera performances from Rossini, Chopin and others and, particularly with the setting, was beautiful. Venice, however, is very, very cold.

Last.fm listening visualisation

I’ve been on Last.fm since 2008 and have blogged about it before. Stats fascinate me, but not nearly as much as visualisations created based on the stats. Saw LastGraph linked on Mark’s blog and created my own graph from joining Last.fm until now. It’s interesting to see what over 60000 listens look like and even [...]

Music of the moment

I’ve realised that there are a few songs I listen to almost daily at the moment which is rather unusual for me, the chronic playlister and shuffleler. All the below links are to Spotify: Ludovico Einaudi – Primavera Yael Naim – Toxic Finley Quaye – Dice Yann Tiersen – Summer 78 Lily Allen – Naive [...]

Proms 2011

Sort of continuing from my previous post I looked into tickets for the Last Night of the Proms. I had been to Proms in the Park once before in 2004 [I think!] and always wanted to go back. Additionally, I had tickets for 2008, but couldn’t make it. As I was browsing the Proms website [...]

Oxford Philomusica

A couple of weeks ago I won tickets to see the Oxford Philomusica at the Reading Concert Hall tonight. It was mainly music I hadn’t listened to much before which is why I created a Spotify playlist and additionally it was the first time I was inside the Reading Concert Hall and the first classical [...]

Spotify playlists

It has been a long week at work and the main reason I’ve made it to Thursday evening at least has been the music I’ve been listening to which includes a quite different mix of music. Here are some more recent ones: Lazy Sunday 100 hits of the ’80s 90s gotta love it Grand Theft [...]

Need more soundtracks. Need them now!

Having just started a “normal” 9-5 job again I have discovered I’m in need of more orchestral soundtracks from either films or games. Whilst my iPod has over 70GB of music, a large part of it is unsuitable as it’s with lyrics which distracts me too much or, worse, could lead me to sing along. [...]

Law and Order UK

I love the original Law and Order and more so Law and Order SVU so I was both excited and worried when I heard they were making Law and Order UK and, for the first series, take scripts from the US version. After six episodes, two of which I still have to watch, it seems [...]

Procrastination at it’s finest!

That’s a list of things I wanted to get done on this blog today ranging from sorting out some pages, clearing up the sidebar, transferring more content from cat on tumblr and creating new pages. How many of the things listed on that piece of paper have I actually done? That’s right, none of them. [...]

Video Game soundtracks

JPLS’ post on his favourite game music got me thinking on what my favourite gaming soundtracks are and why. Game music is an integral part of the game playing experience so it’s hardly surprising that most of the game music I own is from my favourite games and it’s also probably not very susprising that [...]

Some statistics about the music I listen to.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned a few times that I absolutely love stats and my curiosity was sparked when I came across this post on tumblr. I’ve added some bits and removed others, however. Unless stated otherwise all the following exclude podcasts and audiobooks and I’ve excluded all songs that aren’t properly tagged and as such [...]

How to: The BIG Twitter related link post!

It’s no secret to anyone that I love and use Twitter a lot. Some even say I abuse it, but that’s a whole different story! This post is a link post with ideas for applications, integrations, my guides and posts related to Twitter and a long list of people or sites everyone on Twitter should [...]

Fable 2

I was happy that the internet wasn’t as aggressive when Fable came out, there weren’t the constant videos or images or weekly updates or if they were there they most definitely passed me by. It was good in a way as that means less hype was build up. I’ve tried my hardest to ignore most [...]

The music of BioShock

I’m having an incredible amount of incoming searches for the BioShock music which is most likely due to the game finally being released on the PS3. I loved the game and I’m happy for everyone that now has a chance to play the game. The Orchestral score was made available as a download on the [...]

Autumn 2008 – A good time for great music?

Not just another post, but also another music related post, what’s going on?! Earlier tonight I was watching ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ [yes I am fully aware that today is Saturday, thank you] and Keane were there to perform their new single ‘Spiralling’ which is surprisingly great and different and so very 80′s! And [...]

Royal Albert Hall – Classic FM Live

I’m off to the Royal Albert Hall tonight to see Classic FM Live. I have seen the hall many times from the outside and several shows on TV that were hold there, but going inside has always been something I wanted to do. Therefore I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to secure a cheap ticket [...]

What I learned from spending a day in the pub.

In an effort to actually get lots of work done and minimise any procrastinating, I decided to spend the day at a pub drinking [mostly] non alcoholic drinks, listening to music and finally finish some pieces I had been writing on for a while. I managed to complete all that and even more and this [...]
