I love the original Law and Order and more so Law and Order SVU so I was both excited and worried when I heard they were making Law and Order UK and, for the first series, take scripts from the US version.

After six episodes, two of which I still have to watch, it seems that I shouldn’t have been worried, the main characters are brilliant, especially Bradley Walsh as one of the detectives. There is good chemistry between all the characters, the episodes have plenty of twists and go all the way through until the final conviction and, of course, the familiar clunk-clunk sound is there, too!

Dick Wolf, the creator of the original show, picked and rewrote the scripts he thought would work best with the UK law and London and I’ve only seen minor complaints regarding invented laws for the second episode.

I also really like the intro which is hardly surprising seeing it was composed by Andy Price who also did the soundtrack to the BBC series Robin Hood and is in my top 50 most listened to artist according to Last.fm.

One thing that bugs me, however, is Freema Agyeman. She is a brilliant actress and, in my opinion, the best Doctor Who companion of the revamped show, but I’m still not convinced she fits in Law and Order UK’s environment mainly because she has the same facial expression most of the time.

It’s distracting!
